Peanut butter patties are a classic treat that is perfect for any occasion. They are made with a simple dough of butter, sugar, peanut butter, eggs, flour, baking soda, and salt. The dough is dropped by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets and baked until golden brown. The patties are then cooled and enjoyed plain or with a variety of toppings, such as chocolate chips, sprinkles, or frosting.


  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • Chocolate chips, for garnish (optional)

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the peanut butter until well combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips, if desired.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.


  • For a chewier patty, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
  • To make the patties ahead of time, prepare the dough as directed and then chill it for up to 24 hours. When you are ready to bake, drop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets and bake as directed.
  • You can also add other ingredients to the dough, such as oats, chocolate chips, or nuts.
  • To make a peanut butter cup, press a spoonful of peanut butter into the center of each patty before baking.
